A wall for every tool
How we stopped losing chisels: a plywood cabinet, outlines in marker pen and one simple rule.

For two years the woodshop ran on a drawer of mystery. This summer we built a cabinet out of offcut plywood and drew the outline of every tool where it lives.
The rule is simple: if the outline is empty at the end of a session, nobody goes home until it is filled. We have not lost a chisel since June.
Planes in a row
Bench planes sit on their sides on a sloped shelf so the irons never touch wood. The block planes live at hand height because they get used ten times more often than anything else.
